Braking Availability Tester

A Critical Decision Support Tool for Runway Condition Reporting

The BAT™ accurately measures and reports the effect of contaminant (snow, slush, water, other) on aircraft ASBS performance and calculates maximum ASBS braking availability values. Results can be instantly disseminated to all authorized stakeholders.

BAT Basics:

  • Aircraft anti skid braking control system

  • Aircraft tire and scaled tire to pavement contact pressure

  • Landing gear

  • Integration into WinterOps™ CART-RCR

Intelligently integrating actual aircraft brake components into a ground based vehicle, the BAT™ emulates an aircraft’s in-situation anti skid braking system operation, and measures the resulting braking coefficient which indicates the expected aircraft braking deceleration performance available. This information is communicated in real-time for enhanced decision-making for takeoff and landing requirements.

The BAT™ is compliant with FAA Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment (TALPA) and Global Reporting Format (GRF) input requirements supporting Runway Condition Assessment Matrix with objective measurement.
