Heavy Equipment Field Technician

Description:

The role of the Heavy Equipment Field Technician is to set-up/PDI, maintain, and repair heavy equipment for our airport clients in North America.  The work encompasses a variety of activities including:  installation and training for airport clients on new pieces of equipment, performing repairs during the warranty period, and overhauling used equipment for sale to clients.​

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform maintenance and repair activities on various trucks & heavy equipment including but not limited to heavy duty trucks, Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting trucks, chemical spreaders, runway sweepers, plows, etc.

  2. Diagnose, service, and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as: mechanical and computer electronic controls, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems.

  3. Troubleshoot malfunctions in the equipment and repair

  4. Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, and tires, changes filters and oil, lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment

  5. Train customers on maintenance of the equipment

  6. Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized and in safe working condition

  7. Prepare / maintain work orders

  8. May assist in training Apprentice employees from time to time

  9. Other duties as assigned

Work Environment & Physical Abilities:

  • Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations, at the shop division location and customer locations.

  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.

  • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 80 lbs.

  • Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.

  • Normal range of hearing and vision.

Qualifications & Job Requirements:

  • Heavy Equipment Technician or 310T Truck & Coach Technician

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to travel throughout North America

  • Experience working in a heavy-duty truck dealership or independent shop environment is a requirement.

  • Strong customer service skills, organizational skills and leadership abilities are essential.

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
